I am watching a large deep low pressure system that is moving towards the UK from the Atlantic. It will be slow to clear the UK with the effects from the storm lasting from early hours Tuesday and through Wednesday.

The centre of the low pressure could be lower than 970 mb on its approach towards Scotland. At times we could see wind speeds gusting over 50 mph , force 9 severe gale in our area. Western coasts area will see wind speeds reaching over 70 mph for 11, violent storm. There will be periods of very heavy rain especially during Tuesday.

More detailed updates to follow tomorrow. This is a note worthy storm and will need to be treated with respect for anyone travelling or working outdoors.
