Just a quick look at the GEFS graph, it shows temperatures will be around average may be a little cooler than average towards the middle of August.

To remind you the GEFS graph shows the temperature at 1,500 metres, 850 hpa. That’s around the middle of the graph. The thick black line is the average temperature. The bottom of the graph is rainfall.

So between 1st to the 3rd August it should be dry with temperatures just slightly above average. From the 4th August onwards it looks like we will start to see some rainfall in the form of heavy showers or longer spells of rain. The graph also shows we could start to see some cooler temperatures around the middle of the month too.

So at the moment the GEFS does not see the return of any heatwave for the next couple of weeks.
