This is the outlook for the next four weeks using the JMA model, issued from the Japanese Met Agency. It is not meant to be a forecast but a general outlook. I have added the 3 images together, added a red line so you can see the UK. Blue colours are low pressure area’s and oranges high pressure areas.

Week 1,  21st to 27th December.

We have low pressure in control stretching from the USA, across the north Atlantic, over Europe and onto Western Russia. This will bring mild westerly’s with above average rainfall and well above average temperatures.

Week 28th, December to 3rd January 2018.

Not a great deal of change in rainfall remaining above average. Temperatures dropping colder to near what you would expect for the end of December, early January.

Week 3-4, 4th January to 17th.

Low pressure situated in the North Atlantic just to the West of the UK. Turning a little drier than the previous two weeks. Temperatures around average for early, mid January.
