I have had several questions about the Polar Vortex and that they have read it will be bringing us deep snow at the end of this month. It looks like some writers remember the word polar vortex from last winter.
The polar Vortex naturally forms during the Autumn builds in area size and depth of cold temperatures during the winter and then reduces and fades late spring disappears during the summer months. The Polar Vortex is a large area above the pole region around 30 mile high. The temperatures can drop to around -85 c at its highest level.
Now last winter the polar vortex suddenly warmed and split and then this reversed the wind direction bringing very cold temperatures and snow.
This does not happen every winter and if it does warm and split we are still not guaranteed real cold temperatures and snow.
Now we are very early in the season and looking at the lowest level and the highest level of the Vortex I don’t see any warming maybe it looks a little weaker.
So I will be watching the Polar Vortex along with other things that can bring a winter our way, but when I looked at the calendar we were still in mid October not Mid December.
