Followers will know I look at the 4 week outlook from the JMA the Japanese Met Agency. Well they do a very long range outlook looking at 3 months. Now we have to take that with a very large pinch of salt and we certainly don’t look for detail but it may be useful look for a trend.
I have shown the air pressure at sea level. Blue is low pressure, yellow is high pressure. I have rotated the images and pasted them together adding a red line to show where the UK is.
November.
Low pressure looks like it will be mainly over the UK and Scandinavia. This would bring around average temperatures for November. It looks like the dominant wind direction will be a northerly so temperatures at times will be below average. With low pressure we can expect above average precipitation.
December.
A switch to high pressure over the UK, Atlantic and Scandinavia for December. This would bring a coldish month with temperature around normal sometimes slightly below average because of the dominate North-easterly wind direction. It looks like it will be fairly dry. So we could see some frequent frosty nights.
January 2025.
A switch again this time low pressure looks to be mainly in control of our weather. This would bring above average precipitation so fairly wet. The airflow looks like it will be a North westerly so, very cool, maybe a little wintry at times, maybe a few storms.
