What I'm Watching

What I'm Watching

Outlook for the week ahead.

West to southwesterly winds will dominate the week ahead. If you are travelling around the UK the North West will see the most rain with the East coast and the South east seeing the driest conditions. South East seeing the warmest temperatures. So this is what we can expect for the week ahead for our area. Monday 13th The day starts...

Outlook for the weekend.

Air pressure builds during Saturday morning to bring a sunny morning. Cloud slowly increases during the afternoon. The day's top temperature reaching around 19 to 20 c. The air pressure will start to fall later during the afternoon, wind speed increases and we will start to see a risk of showers the closer we get to teatime. Frequent showers...

Unsettled weekend to come.

A complex low pressure system looks like it will be arriving just off the West coast of the Ireland late Friday. This will bring us an unsettled weekend. It is still to far away to give any details but I would expect it to bring some very breezy conditions at times with showers and periods of heavy rain.

Outlook for the coming new week.

During the week we will start to see a change taking place with cooler temperatures and some rain showers. The air pressure at the time of writing this outlook is 1023 hpa and we will see the air pressure falling slowly during the day. Monday 6th. Air pressure will continue to fall slowly down to 1015 hpa. We will still see...

GEFS thinks temperatures will falll to around average around the 8th of the month.

Looking at this GEFS model it's showing the temperatures could start to fall around the 8th or 9th of the month. If you have not seen the GEFS graph before, the top part of the graph shows the temperature at 1,500 metres, the bottom of the graph shows rainfall. Temperatures from round the 8th will cool off to around...

Weekend outlook, very unsettled, cooler with some very heavy rain, thundery at times.

This is the coming weekends outlook. I am calling it an outlook because it is still subject to some change, but I think the general theme is locked in, it's just the timing and details may change a little but you can see major changes will be taking place. Saturday 28th will be breeze with showers merging into some heavy...

High air pressure over Scandinavia continues to keep a blocking in place.

High air pressure ridge over Scandinavia continues to be in place causing a blocking to take place from any Atlantic driven weather system entering the UK. This keeps a low pressure trough over the North Atlantic. The jet-stream is coming up from the South-west over Ireland and the West coast of Scotland. This Scandinavia high blocking is not weakening and...

Pleasantly warm but still no sign of any real rain.

Well technically the heatwave may have finished but there is still no sign of any real rain. I would say it will feel more pleasant over  the coming day's with temperatures reaching around 21-23 c during the afternoons. I still do not see any signs of any real rain may be the odd scattered shower over the next couple...

Tomorrow will be the last hot day then it will turn cooler, more pleasant next week with some rain.

Tomorrow will be the last real hot day for sometime, I would think temperatures will reach 27 centigrade Sunday afternoon. Next week we will see the air pressure falling and it will become cooler with the temperatures around what you would expect for mid July around 20-21 centigrade. We will see some showers and periods of rain too. There is a...

Update on ex tropical storm Chris.

I have had a few questions and even phone calls telling me a hurricane is coming our way, Please don't be taken in by this. Tuesday I wrote about ex Hurricane Chris and I said I could see it moving towards Iceland. All I see it doing is bringing a lot of moisture with it and bringing some rain into...
