What I'm Watching

What I'm Watching

Looking more settled next week.

Higher pressure looks like it will return next week. I think our air pressure will drift around 1015 hpa to 1020 hpa. This should kill off most of any showers to bring mainly a dry week. With a South westerly airflow our temperatures will be in the low 20's. Our air pressure at this time is 1008 hpa so keep an eye on...

Turning very wet next week.

I am watching two low pressure systems coming in from the Atlantic next week. At the moment the first one arrives Tuesday bringing some very heavy rain. Then the next one will bring a lot of heavy showers, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. So this is what I am watching at this time to see if the track and path does bring...

Low pressure starts to be replaced with higher pressure.

At long last we will start to see an improvement in our weather as higher pressure will start to replace low pressure. I am not saying, a heatwave or anything like that, but we will see warmer, drier weather. Thursday will see high pressure temporary building to bring a dry, fine day. This soon collapses to bring a showery day,...

Unsettled weather looks like continuing next week.

This GEFS graph is showing the unsettled trend continues into next week. The top half of the graph is the temperature at 5,000 feet and the bottom of the graph is rainfall. So if wee look at the date at the very bottom of the graph we can see some rain tomorrow then it looks like it will be a dry day Sunday....

No real change for the first part of August.

Into a new month we go and the similar weather Patten continues for the first part of August. Looking at the Jet-stream it will continue to move West to East across Southern parts of England and Wales. This will bring in changeable weather with sunshine and showers or longer spells of rain. We are on the cool side of the...

Unsettled weather for the end of the July continuing into the first week of August.

One decent day to come on Tuesday with high pressure temporary building. The high pressure will be replaced with a low pressure system on Wednesday. For the rest of this month and into the first week of August it's looking unsettled. The Jet-stream position looks like it will be bringing a series of low pressure system across the Atlantic close to the UK

Rest of the month and into early August looks like remaining rather cool and unsettled.

The rest of July and into the first week of August looks like it will be remaining overall cooler than you would expect and a little unsettled. The GEFS is no way meant to be a forecast but I like to use it for a general outlook. This GEFS tells the story of cooler temperatures and some rain fall during every day. If...

Unsettled week to come.

Over the last few days I have talked about an unsettled week to come, with showers and periods of heavy rain. Sunday 9th. Low pressure will bring in showers some of these showers could be heavy and possibly thundery. Monday 10th. A north-westerly airflow will bring cooler temperatures and the odd shower. Tuesday 11th. A deep low pressure system will move from West to East bringing...

Changeable and cooler

Our weather is set to become changeable and cooler for the next couple of weeks. I see an ever changing position of the jet stream. This will allow troughs of lower pressure to deepen bringing spells of heavy rain and showers. With mainly a North-westerly wind direction temperatures will feel cooler than you would expect for this time of the...

Risk for thunderstorms during Thursday.

The risk of thunderstorms during Thursday 6th July is still with us. Temperatures could reach 25 centigrade during the afternoon and there will be some very heavy downpours of rain with a risk of thunderstorms. There could be isolated localised flooding. We are in the at risk area, how widespread these storms will be is a little uncertain at this time. At this...
